There are some who believe that social justice issues should be addressed within politics or sociology. What about religion? As a trained, Public Theologian, Rev. Ekemini Uwan identifies reparations as a theological issue when speaking before the United Nations.

While her powerful statement is on behalf of Africans and African descended people, her sentiments regarding the historical and contemporary issues that bring reparations to the fore impacts everyone. Please listen, share and like.

Ekemini Uwan (pronounced Eh-keh-mi-knee Oo-wan) is a public theologian and co-author of Truth’s Table: Black Women’s Musings on Life, Love, and Liberation.  She is the co-host of the award-winning podcast, Truth’s Table and Get In The Word With Truth’s Table. Uwan is the Black Christian Experience Resource Center’s 2022 inaugural Theologian-in-Residence, 2021 member of the Aspen Institute’s Racial Justice and Religion Commission, and she is a 2022 Aspen Ideas Festival Fellow.
